Overview

FamOS helps families organize schedules, chores, routines, and shared information. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of information when you use FamOS:

Account & Authentication: name, email address, and authentication data (e.g., session information from NextAuth, OTP verification state).
Family Members: member profiles you create (first names, optional avatar emoji/images).
Calendar Items: events, routines, activities, and chores you add, including title, notes/instructions, status, days of week, time of day, due date/date, whether recurring, routine reference, and assignment (e.g., applies-to-all vs. specific member).
Location Details (optional): for Events/Activities, you may provide location label, address, Google Places ID, and latitude/longitude.
Contacts: contacts you add (name, relationship and label, email, phone, emergency flag, and member linkage).
Lists & Items: list names, items, and completion state.
Priorities & Values: shared family priorities/values and related notes or levels.
Uploads: files or images you upload (e.g., avatars) along with metadata necessary to deliver them.
Support: messages or details you share with us for support.
Usage & Device Data: basic logs such as IP address, user agent, timestamps, and request metadata collected by our hosting and application platform to operate, secure, and improve the service.

Third-Party Sources

If you use location search, we may retrieve place details from Google Maps Places (subject to Google’s policies). We do not receive your precise device location unless you explicitly enter or select it.

How We Use Information

Provide and operate the app (scheduling, chores, routines, lists, contacts, and collaboration).
Personalize experiences (e.g., member assignments, calendar views).
Maintain security and prevent abuse, fraud, or misuse.
Improve the product, performance, reliability, and user experience.
Communicate with you about updates, support, and important service notices.

Legal Bases (EEA/UK)

Contract: to provide the service you request.
Legitimate interests: to secure and improve FamOS.
Consent: where required (e.g., optional features like Places autocomplete).

Sharing of Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only as necessary to operate FamOS:

Service providers: hosting, databases, email/OTP delivery, and similar infrastructure.
Maps provider: Google Maps Places for optional place search and details.
Compliance: to comply with legal obligations, enforce terms, or protect rights, safety, or security.

Cookies and Similar Technologies

We use cookies or similar technologies for authentication (e.g., NextAuth session) and to provide core functionality.

Data Retention

We retain information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. You can request deletion of your account and associated data, subject to certain legal or operational retention requirements.

Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export your data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. Contact us to exercise these rights.

Children’s Privacy

FamOS is intended to be managed by parents/guardians. You may choose to store your children’s first names and related scheduling or chore information. Parents/guardians control and manage this information.

Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures to protect information. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

International Transfers

Your information may be processed in countries other than your own. We take steps to ensure appropriate safeguards are in place consistent with applicable laws.

Changes to this Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated policy with an updated “Last updated” date.
